| How to Place an
Advert |
 |
This section explains how to place an advert for road,
air and sea freight. The process is similar for all
three categories, however you will find any differences
placed in its own box and labelled with the freight
type that it relates to.
Advert Name
Please enter a memorable name for the advert. We suggest
using unique information that is specific to this
delivery, such as customer name, lorry type needed
and items that are being delivered. Please note this
is only for your own use, no one else will see it.
This makes things easy when you need to look at bids
or if you want to re-advertise the same load details
but with a new date.

Insurance
If you tick the box for insurance it will state in
your advert that you require a quote for insurance
for your goods. You will then have to provide the
value of the goods later on in thePlace an Advert
section. We advise that you also provide details about
how the goods are packed or any other relevant information
in your special instructions. The transport company
should only quote you if they work in partnership
with a fully regulated insurance company. We strongly
advise that you check full details of insurance before
letting the transport company move your goods. Please
see our terms and conditions for more information.
|
Do you need to specify multi drops?
If you have any deliveries to make between
your warehouse and the delivery/pickup
location then click yes and enter the
number of points here. Please exclude
the delivery and pickup locations. You
will be able to fill out the delivery
points on the next page.
|
Now click
at the bottom right hand side of the page.
|
Departure Port
Enter the country of departure for your
goods. This will then load the ports/airports
of that country in the port/airport box
below. Click on the drop down list and
select the port/airport of your choice.
If you do not know the port/airport, please
leave set to - port -/- airport -. The
transport company will then specify the
port that they are quoting you for in
their tender. If in the unlikely circumstances
you know the port/airport and it is not
in the list, please set the list back
to - port -/- airport - and then specify
in your special instructions the port/airport
name that you require.
Arrival Port
Enter this in the same way that you entered
the departure port. Please see above for
details.
Note
Please make sure that the country of dispatch
and arrival match the warehouse locations
if required. We have allowed them to be
able to be different for landlocked countries
that have to move the goods by road to
a country with a port or moved to another
country by road for some other reason.

Advert expires on
Use the calendar button and time drop down list (see
section below) to enter the date and time that you
want the advert to expire on. We recommend when setting
your expiry date that you set this a number of days
before the goods are ready to collect or the contract
is about to start. This will allow for any checks
that you want to do on the transport company or any
checks that they need to do on you before dealing
with you. (See our recommendations
for dealing with companies from the site). For
details on how to fill out contract dates, please
see below.
Goods are ready to collect on
Enter the date and time that the goods will be ready
to collect on. Remember that the earlier the goods
are ready to collect, and the more time between this
date and the deliver by date, the more chance you
have of getting a better price. Leave a realistic
time between this date and the deliver by date for
shipping. If you need to move the goods quickly use
road or air freight.
Goods are to be delivered by
Enter the date that the goods are to be delivered
by. Please note that this is not the booking in date,
this is here to let the transport company know the
latest that you want the goods delivered. The road
section has details for booking in later in the Place
an Advert process.

Now click
at the bottom right hand side of the page.
|
Number of Shipments during the Contract
Period

Enter the number of shipments for the contract
period that you have already specified
in the last section (for more details
on this please look here).
Shipment options are listed below for
sea and air freight.
|
You will find all the
main types of containers in the list
including reefer containers (refrigerated).
If you require a special size or type
of container that isnt in the
list, please specify details in your
special instructions. When you select
a container from the list, we advise
that you give more details about the
type of container in your special
instructions. e.g. for tanker containers
if you want them rubber lined for
acid or if they are for food use etc,
state it in your special instructions
box.
|
|
Bulk carrying vessel
Enter the type of vessel required. Please
give more details in your special instructions
about product packaging, loading etc or
any other information that the shipping
company will require.
|
| Type of lorry
needed
Select from the drop down list the type of lorry that you require. If you
do not know the type of lorry you require
select Transport Company to Advise.
The list of lorries are for a guide only.
If you need to be more specific with regards
to exact size or maximum load requirements
we recommend that you give the details
in your special instructions.
|
Approximate weight of goods
Please give details for the weight of goods you are
sending, including any packaging. For air freight
please make sure the weight you give is accurate as
this will effect the price you are quoted.
|
Weight range of goods
Please give details of the weight of goods
you are sending, including any packaging.
Please give a range of weights from the
lightest to the heaviest in the contract
period. For air freight we recommend being
as accurate as possible as you will be
quoted based on these figures. We also
recommend that you keep the two figures
as close as possible, so that it is easier
for companies to quote for you. If there
is a big fluctuation in weights it might
pay to make out more than one advert.
You can elaborate on the weight of goods
that you send in your special instructions.
|
| Number of pallets
Enter the number of pallets that you are sending. Please state the type of
pallet in your description of goods, eg.
40 x 48 or euros.
|
Number of pallets
Enter the range of pallets
that you will be sending in
the contract period. Enter
the lowest and highest amount
that you would send as one
load. You might want to elaborate
on this information in your
special instructions.
|
Tail lift and pallet truck
required
Click on yes if you require
a pallet truck and tail lift on the lorry
that will do the job for you. Remember
to only use this feature if you really
need it. This could increase the cost
and greatly reduce the number of companies
available that can supply a lorry to suit
your requirements.
Fork lift and driver required
If you require the lorry
to come with its own fork lift then click
yes.
|
Description of goods
Please state the type of goods you are sending. Be
as accurate as you can, as this will help a transport
company understand your requirements. Below are some
examples of the sort of things you should include
in this section.
1. How are the goods packed?
2. Are the goods hand boarded?
3. Are the goods palleted? If so are they shrink wrapped?
What is the pallet height?
4. Pallet types.
Value of goods
If you have requested a quote for insurance then you
will be asked here to state the value of the goods.
Click on the currency menu to the right of the value
to set the currency. (click
here for more details about selecting tenders
that contain insurance quotes).
Are the goods hazardous?
If you click on yes here you must give full details
about the nature of the hazard in your special instructions
below.
Special instructions
Please include details here about any hazardous goods.
Indicate any other information that the transport
company might need to know. They could include things
like some of the examples below.
1. Terms and conditions that you would normally insist
a transport company follows in dealing with your company.
2. Your terms of payment. (subject to being accepted
by a transport company)
3. Give details about any restricted access to collections
or deliveries (including parking restrictions.)
4. If the goods need to be booked in for collections
or deliveries. Please note that we provide the option
to book in one delivery for road freight, after this
section.
5. Expand the information you have given on the type
of vehicle or container that you require.
6. Loading and unloading times for containers/lorries
etc. A transport company normally includes a certain
amount of loading time in the price quoted. Anything
above that time is normally charged extra.
7. Do the goods need to go to a weigh bridge to be
weighed? If they do, give details about how far this
is from your location and any other information they
might need to know concerning this.
8. For sea and air freight, provide port details if
you havent provided them already.
There is a lot more information you can and should
provide than the few examples above to obtain accurate
quotes. Remember this section is where you can really
tailor the tender process to suit your needs. If there
is anything that you feel we should ask in the form
sections, we are always interested to hear what you
have to say. e-mail us at info@freighttender.com.
Important note
Please do not provide any contact details or exact
pickup or delivery addresses in your special instructions
or anywhere else in the site. We advise against this
due to security reasons.
Do you send similar loads?
Tick the box if you will be sending loads to and from
the same location again. By providing this information
it helps keep the site free for you to use.
If you have ticked the box you will now see the following
below.
|
Frequency of load
Type in the number of loads in the left
box then click on the menu to the right
and select the frequency. e.g. 1 per day
or 20 per month.
Date of next load
Select from the calendar the next time
you think you will be sending this load.
Remember it must be after the current
load you are sending now. For details
on how to use the calendar click
here.
|
Do you want a sealed tender?
Click yes if you require a sealed tender. The advantages
of a sealed tender is that no one else but you can
see the value of the bids that you have received.
Use this feature if you would prefer that a transport
company gives you a tender based more on the requirements
of the job, than the pressure of another transport
company bidding a lower price for your tender.
Click no if you prefer to let other companies see
the bids that you have received. The advantage of
this system is that all transport companies will be
aware of the value of other bids that you have received.
They will also be informed by e-mail if they are outbid
by another company. This in turn should keep the cost
down for your freight.
If you do not want a sealed tender you will be asked
a guide price. You can leave this figure at 0.00 in
which case there will be no guide price displayed
on your advert. If you do set a guide price we recommend
that you set an amount that you have previously paid
to send a similar load. You can select the currency
you want your guide price to appear in by selecting
the currency you require from the drop down list to
the right of the guide price. Please note that the
guide price is only ever for one shipment even in
contracts i.e. Only give a price per container, lorry,
one load of loose cargo or bulk vessel. The site calculates
all contract amounts. You only enter the freight amount
for all guide prices, do not include insurance or
other ancillary costs. For sea freight and air freight
only enter the amount for the air freight or sea freight
component, do not include any road freight.

This section provides details
on the loading and unloading times of
the warehouse that you registered with
us. Click in the box only if you want
to specify different loading and unloading
times for your warehouse for this load.
Click
here for help in filling out this
section.

For sea freight and air freight click on the
button.
Booking in details (road only)
We have only provided the ability to book in one delivery
address. If you have several booked in deliveries
please give full details in your special instructions.
It is important that you provide accurate details
on booking in times as this greatly affects the price
of the quotes you receive. Remember the more flexible
you are the cheaper the bids should be that you receive.
We give the option below of letting the transport
company book both the date and time in for you or
you can arrange the date, leaving them to book in
the time on that date. Alternatively you can arrange
both the time and the date.
As you can see below, this section is straight forward.
Only state that the goods need to be booked in if
your customer insists this to be the case. It might
increase your costs by having the goods booked in.

For sea freight and air freight click on the
button.
You will now see a preview page of your advert. Check
that everything is correct before proceeding.
Click on the
