| How to Read and
Interpret Adverts |
 |
This section gives you more details about adverts placed
on freighttender.com. The main advert details are
the same for road, sea and air freight, however there
are some differences which have been put in their
own box and labelled with the appropriate freight
type. You will also find any differences for bulk
contracts labelled and boxed.
|
Advert locations
You will see the dispatch and delivery
address at the top of the advert. It is
in the format below for road freight with
the postcode displayed first followed
by the town/city, region and country.

|
|
Advert locations for sea and air
You will see port and airport details
at the top of the advert. The example
below is for sea freight, however it is
the same system for air freight. In the
example below a port has been set for
both the departure and arrival country.
You will see the port name followed by
the port three letter code in brackets
after it, then you will see the country.
Please note: The advertiser only has to
enter the departure and arrival country,
they do not have to enter the port. If
there is no port listed here you will
be asked to provide the name of the port
that you will be quoting for on your bidding
form. Please look in Special Instructions
first before entering the port, just in
case the advertiser has given details
of a more obscure port that isnt
present in our standard port list.If this
were the case we advise that you then
quote from that port.

Advert Placed
This is the date and time that the advert was placed
according to site time (GMT, BST).
Advert Closes
This is the date and time that the advert will close
after which no bids will be taken. If any bids are
placed 10 minutes or less before the Advert
Closes time, the advert time will be extended
by 10 minutes more.
Advert Type
In a normal advert you can see the cheapest bid and
the bid history. The other type of advert is a sealed
tender where this information is kept so only the
advertiser can see it.
Viewed
This is the number of times that this advert has been
viewed.
Goods Ready to Collect By
The goods are ready to collect from this date and
time. You do not have to collect at this exact time,
it just informs you that the goods are ready then,
so any time after this date should be fine. It is
a good idea to state when you would be able to collect
the goods in yourAdditional Information for
the Advertiser.
Goods to be Delivered By
This is the time and date that the advertiser wants
the goods to be delivered by. It is not a booking
in date but just the latest time that the advertiser
wants their goods to reach the destination by. We
advise that you inform the advertiser when you would
be able to deliver the goods by in your Additional
Information for the Advertiser.
|
Contract Starts
This is the date that the contract will
start.
Contract Ends
This is the date that the contract ends.
We have worked out the number of weeks
and days that the contract runs in the
next section Advert Details.
You will also see the number of shipments
there for the contract period.

Advertisers Guide Price
This is the amount that the advertiser has given as
a guide price. This is for the main freight component
only and does not include ancillary charges or insurance.
On sea and air freight it does not include any road
freight if specified. You can see the original currency
that the advertiser has given the guide price in with
your preferred currency in green next to it.
Cheapest Bid
This is the lowest priced bid that has been placed
for the advert. This can include insurance and all
ancillary costs. The only way you will be able to
view the full bid details of your competitors is after
you have placed a bid for the advert. You can then
view the details on your management page.
Time Left
This is the time that the advert has left before it
expires. The D stands for days, H for hours, M for
minutes and S for seconds. When the advert has expired
you will see Closed displayed here.
# of Bids
This is the number of bids that the advert has received.
You can see more details about the bids in Bid
History. This feature is not available for sealed
tenders.
(Bid History)
Click on the blue (bid history) link after
the number of adverts. This will only be displayed
if the advert is not a sealed tender and if the advert
has received one bid or more. See below for an example
of the bid history.

All other companies that bid are only displayed as
a customer ID number when you view the site. You will
see your company name on the bids that you place (other
companies will of course see this as a number). The
time that every bid is placed is recorded and the
total amount of the bid for one shipment is displayed
in your preferred currency. You will see that the
last column is the Bid Expires time. You
can read more details about this here.
|
Multi-Drops
If you see the red MD sign on the road
advert page this means that it is a multi-drop
advert. Click on the MD sign and you will
see a new window appear with anything
from 1 to 26 multi-drop locations with
postcode and/or town name. Number 1 location
should be nearest the dispatch address
with the higher numbers towards the delivery
address given on the main advert page.

will run for. This is stated in weeks

this in the bidding section here.
Please note that the advertiser can give
more details about the types of freight
including weight in their Special
Instructions.
|
|
Pallet Range
This is number of pallets that will be
sent per shipment in the contract period
from the least to the most. It should
be taken as standard that they are 40
x 48 pallets unless the advertiser
has stated differently in their Special
Instructions.
|

This is the weight of goods being sent. For air freight
the Per Kilo Charges are worked out on
the weight given here. See more about this in the
bidding section here.

Shipment Details
Sea freight has 3 main categories, they
are:
1. Full container. You will see the standard
size and type of containers.
2. Loose cargo ( for less than full container
loads, oversized items or for when the
advertiser is unsure of the best method
of sending the goods).
3. Bulk carrying vessel, this is for bulk
materials.
If there are any more details needed regarding
the type of packing or transport, the
advertiser should have provided the information
in their Special Instructions.
If the advertiser has stated that they
do not know the type of container or if
the container they have requested in your
opinion is the wrong one, please provide
your recommendations in your Additional
Information for the Advertiser.
For loose cargo details please see air
freight below.
|
|
Shipment Details
Air freight shipment details are the same
as loose cargo for sea freight. First
you will see the number of items the advertiser
is sending followed by the dimensions
of the goods either in metres, or the
volume of the goods in cubic meters or
cubic feet. Under this you will see if
the size given is for each item being
sent or if it is the combined size for
all items.
|
|
Pallets (single load)
This is the number of pallets that are
being sent on this shipment. Please note
that they are 48 x 40 pallets
unless stated otherwise by the advertiser
in their Special Instructions.
Lorry Type
This is the type of lorry that is required.
It is only a guide, the advertiser can
supply more detailed requirements in their
Special Instructions. If you
want to quote for this advert but are
using a different type of lorry please
provide details of this in your Additional
Information for the Advertiser.
|
Hazardous Goods
Here you will see stated whether the goods are hazardous
or not. If they are hazardous the advertiser should
have clearly stated the nature of the hazard along
with any other relevant information in their Special
Instructions.
|
Tail-lift and Pallet Truck Required
If the advertiser has stated here that
a tail-lift and pallet truck is required,
only bid for the advert if you can meet
the requirements.
Forklift and Driver Required
Again if the advertiser has stated here
that they require a forklift and driver,
only bid for the advert if you can meet
the requirements.
|
Description
You should see here a description of the goods that
the advertiser is sending together with any other
information on the packaging of the goods.
|
Road Freight in the Arrival or Destination
Country
You will see here if the advertiser has
requested a quote for road freight either
from the dispatch address to the airport/port
or from the arrival airport/port to the
delivery address. You will see the full
details of the road freight required in
the Place
a Bid section.
|
This is a very important section to read through. This
is where the advert is tailored for the advertiser.
Please ensure that you meet all the requirements in
this section. If you cant meet the requirements
you can still bid for the advert, but you should clearly
state why you cant meet the advertisers requirements
in your Additional Information for the Advertiser.
|
This section states the times and days
that the advertisers warehouse is able
to load and unload goods. You will see
it labelled here as the dispatch or arrival
warehouse.
This is for the main delivery address.
You will see here if the advertiser has
booked in both the time and date for the
delivery, or just the date leaving your
company to arrange the time if you win
the bid. The third option would be that
your company must book in both the time
and date should you win the bid.
